AESTHETIC & BEAUTY TRAINING OPTIONS

Explore Our Aesthetic Training Courses

Our courses are structured to support learners and practitioners at different stages of their professional development. From regulated aesthetic qualifications at Levels 3–7 to CPD and advanced CPD training, this section provides an overview of the training routes available and how they are categorised.

Whether you are working towards a recognised qualification or expanding your treatment portfolio through CPD, our courses are delivered with a strong focus on safety, professional standards, and regulatory alignment.

Understanding Your Options

Regulated qualifications are formally accredited programmes that follow nationally set standards and assessments, giving practitioners a thorough and reliable foundation of knowledge, understanding and practical competence. CPD courses build on this base by enabling ongoing development, helping professionals maintain their skills and keep up to date with the latest techniques, technologies and industry advances. Both pathways provide valuable opportunities, but choosing the right one depends on your career goals and current level of expertise.

Regulated qualifications are formal certifications recognised and approved by Ofqual. Training centres must meet strict approval requirements from awarding organisations such as VTCT, ProQual and Focus Awards before they are authorised to deliver these programmes. SkinAstute Aesthetic and Beauty Training Academy holds approved centre status with these awarding bodies. Regulated qualifications provide the foundation for learning, ensuring a high standard of education, assessment and practitioner competency in aesthetics. They are an structured pathway to safe and professional practice.

CPD (continued professional development) courses on the other hand offer flexibility and are intended to support continued learning and ongoing professional development. Accreditation bodies for CPD can include ABT, Professional Beauty Direct, IPHM and recognised CPD accreditation groups. These programmes enable practitioners to enhance their existing knowledge and practical skills while keeping up to date with the latest industry trends and advances. CPD courses are designed to develop and refine competence but they should not be used as the foundation of learning.

Choosing the Right Path for You

Who Benefits from Each Route?

Regulated qualifications are best for individuals beginning their journey in aesthetics or those wanting a formal certificate to strengthen their professional credibility and demonstrate assessed competence. CPD courses are best suited to practitioners who already hold the foundation of regulated qualifications but want to specialise, develop new skills and keep up to date with the latest techniques and industry advances.

We offer three options for beginners. These include the ProQual Level 3 Diploma in Pathway to Aesthetic Practice, a theory based qualification assessed entirely through assignments. The VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Access to Aesthetics is assessed through multiple choice theory exams, written assignments and practical assessments or the RQF Level 3 Certificate in Entry to Aesthetic Therapies, which is assessed through written assignments and practical sessions. Each qualification covers essential areas including client care and consultation, anatomy and physiology, and health and safety requirements, providing learners with a structured starting point for professional aesthetic practice.

Once Level 3 has been completed students can progress on to Level 4 advanced qualifications. We offer three options including the ProQual Level 4 Diploma in Aesthetic Treatments and Skin Science, the VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Advanced Aesthetic Therapies for Skin Rejuvenation, and the RQF Level 4 Diploma in Advanced Skin Science & Clinical Aesthetic Procedures. Subjects covered can include dermaplaning, chemical peeling, skin needling, blemish removal, with the exact units dependent on the course option selected. These qualifications support progression on to Level 5. Students also have the option to complete Level 4 courses as standalone awards or certificates however single unit awards are not sufficient for progression to Level 5 in aesthetics. A full Level 4 certificate or diploma is required.

We offer three qualification options at Level 5. The options include the ProQual Level 5 Diploma in Aesthetic Practice, the VTCT Level 5 Certificate in Non Surgical Aesthetic Procedures for Skin Rejuvenation, and the RQF Level 5 Diploma in Aesthetic Practice. These advanced qualifications develop specialist treatment skills, higher level consultation ability and a deeper understanding of skin science, enabling practitioners to remain competent and up to date in professional aesthetic practice. In addition to a Level 4 Certificate or Diploma additional prerequisites for Level 5 courses include either Level 3 First Aid or Level 3 Emergency First Aid at work.
