Common Enquiries from Prospective Learners

Discover answers to frequently asked questions about our courses and training options.

Do I need previous experience to start a course?

No. We offer entry routes designed for complete beginners, including Level 3 Access to Aesthetics and Beauty Therapy qualifications. These courses provide the essential knowledge and practical skills required to progress safely into the beauty and aesthetics industry.

How do I know which qualification level is right for me?

Choosing the right level depends on your current experience, qualifications, and career goals. If you’re unsure, we can guide you through suitable starting points and progression routes to ensure you enrol on the most appropriate course.

What is the difference between regulated qualifications and CPD training?

Regulated qualifications are nationally recognised Ofqual-regulated qualifications, awarded by approved awarding bodies and delivered through approved training centres. They follow strict assessment, quality assurance, and regulatory standards, making them suitable for entry into the industry and recognised professional progression.

CPD training is designed for existing practitioners who already hold relevant qualifications and wish to develop or update specific skills. CPD certificates are typically accredited by independent accreditation organisations such as ABT, CPD Certification, Professional Beauty Direct, IPHM, or similar bodies. CPD training supports ongoing development but does not replace a regulated qualification.

Are your qualifications recognised and insured?

SkinAstute is an approved training centre delivering Ofqual-regulated qualifications awarded by VTCT, ProQual and Focus Awards. Recognition and insurance eligibility are determined by the qualification held, the practitioner’s scope of practice, and the terms set by individual insurance providers.

Insurance cover is the responsibility of the learner. We do not guarantee insurance acceptance, and learners must obtain and confirm appropriate insurance cover before enrolling on any course.

Where are practical training sessions held?

Practical training for regulated qualifications is delivered at our approved training location in Luton, Bedfordshire, in line with awarding body and quality assurance requirements.

Accredited (CPD) training may be delivered at our training venue or, where appropriate, on-site for group bookings. Opportunities to expand regulated training locations are explored where permitted and subject to awarding body approval.

Do you offer flexible or blended learning options?

Yes. Many of our courses are delivered using a blended learning approach, combining online theory with in-person practical sessions. This allows learners to balance training with existing work or personal commitments, while still meeting required course structures and assessment timelines.

How long does it take to complete a qualification?

Course duration varies depending on the qualification level and delivery format. Regulated courses at SkinAstute Aesthetic & Beauty Training Academy must be completed within defined timeframes, as set out in our terms and conditions.

As a guide:

  • Single award qualifications are typically completed within 3–6 months

  • Certificate qualifications are typically completed within 6–9 months

  • Diploma qualifications are typically completed within 12–18 months

Will regulations affect the treatments I can offer in the future?

The aesthetics sector continues to evolve, with increasing focus on regulation and the classification of treatments by risk. While formal frameworks and requirements are still developing and nothing has been definitively confirmed, regulated qualifications are increasingly recognised as important for higher-risk treatments and long-term professional practice.

Regulated qualifications cannot be taken away once achieved and provide a stable, recognised foundation for practice. Our training pathways are designed to support safe practice now while helping practitioners prepare for future professional and regulatory requirements as they continue to develop.

Can I pay in instalments?

Interest-free payment options are available for regulated qualifications, with instalments payable at four-week intervals.
